Types of Swimming Pool Cover:

There are several types of pool cover, all serve a purpose so here are the different types:

Summer Swimming pool Cover.

Summer covers are a floating cover made from a polyethylene usually treated against UV rays in a bubble format.

They retain the heat of your pool overnight when the temperature drops, reduce evaporation and help to keep out a certain amount of debris.

The covers are available usually in an economy, deluxe and prestige grade which would include a sewn edge to the covers with eyelets, some are black to reduce algae growth and most are used in conjunction with a summer cover roller to store the cover on a daily basis when the pool is in use.

Winter Swimming Pool Covers.

Winter pool covers are usually much heavier and used to completely cover the pool for winterisation. They are normally black or green in colour, treated against UV rays, reinforced with fibres of polyester and have eyelets to take elastic straps to fix the cover into place. A perforated section in the centre of the cover will allow rainwater to go into the pool and not weigh down the cover. Normally secured with stainless steel pins into the surrounding terrace.

If your winter cover is not AFNOR approved you may need to change it if you have no other form of pool security such as a barrier.

The winter cover is the best way to keep your pool water as clean as possible until you reopen the pool for the season.

Since 1st January 2004 it has been law in France that all new swimming pools and swimming pools used as a collective pool (gite or holiday home) must have an approved security system in place. A security cover is one of the four suitable systems. All security covers must be manufactured in accordance with NF P 90-308.

Security pool covers are available in the same format as a winter pool cover and usually have aluminium bars ever meter or so down their length to give the extra support of a pool security cover. These covers are heavy and normally require a winding tool to roll or unroll the cover.

We can supply a fully bordered 550 g/m² winter cover any size with or without roman end or walk in step covers. Our covers come with a 5 year guarantee.
